What is a "traditional" hookah?
Traditional hookahs are often handmade out of stainless steel or brass and are welded together at certain connection points. They often feature a more standard base and stem connection that uses a rubber base grommet to provide an airtight seal, however, this may vary depending on your model. You can typically expect some form of hand-placed or hand-engraved exterior decoration on a silver, gold, or oxidized color stem, however anodized finishes with different color options have recently become popular. They are most commonly produced in Egypt, however, some older hookahs may have been produced in Syria, Lebanon, or other regions of the Middle East.
